About…

Hi!!

My name is Natalie and I am currently living and working in Philadelphia. I have been making art since I was little but more specifically pottery for the last 6 years or so. I am an avid lover of the natural world, which has led me want to create works that capture its beauty. Across all of my work I want to create a feeling of home and comfort and that for me includes organic shapes and familiar forms one can find walking through the woods. A lot of the visual material I use in my work is from doing just that, so I hope my work reflects the complexity in the beauty of nature.

This website is just a snippet of the things I am working on, I am always up to chatting about more, so feel free to reach out via email or instagram!!

Artists Statement…

My work focuses on themes surrounding the natural world and how we can record and document them by isolating specific moments in time.  I use various hand-building and throwing techniques to enhance the natural voice through the use of sweeping lines, rough edges, and textured surfaces, that can be found across all of my work. Through the use of intuitive action, I aim to isolate my process and ideas and emphasize the movement of my body and the material to give the piece a voice that interacts with my memories.

Additionally, I focus on using atmospheric and reduction firing techniques to amplify the natural voices of organic materials in both the clay body and glaze. My focus is to create vessels that highlight the intrinsic stories that clay tells through shape, form, and touch, how it is imbued with the experience of the user.
